Anatomy Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2013
Anatomy No 1 is crafted for earlier consumption but it still has enough structure to age a few years. It is meant to be fun, joyful and delicious. In 2006 I also started making a Hesperian Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon blend from the various single vineyards. Anatomy N o 1 also took birth in 2006. Having trained in Bordeaux, I learned to love blending and appreciate the added complexity one can obtain
Winemaking style: First and foremost a wine has to be balanced. I then look for complexity and interest. I tend to make wines on the elegant side. Stylistically the wines are hybrids between Bordeaux (structure) and Napa (fruit and generosity). Some have described them as Napa Valley old style though I feel the wines have many modern esthetic elements.
Since purchasing a vineyard on Atlas Peak in 2010 I can now farm the vineyard entirely to my discretion which means that I farm for quality and not for quantity. Anatomy No 1 stared because I wanted to make a more affordable Napa Cabernet Sauvignon so that more people could taste the good wines we make.
