Choosing wine for an occasion is a different problem from choosing wine for dinner. There are more people, a wider spread of taste, and usually a reason the bottle needs to be right.
The practical questions turn out to be the ones nobody covers: how many bottles for twenty people, what suits a table where half the guests do not drink red, which wines from a birth year are still worth opening, and what to do with a bottle somebody has been keeping since 1998.
